1966
The story of Camping La Presqu’île de Giens began in 1966. Having inherited the land from his ancestors, who were market gardeners, Lucien Coulomb decided to establish Camping La Presqu’île de Giens, with the help of his wife Marie-Jeanne, his brother-in-law Gérard, and his sister-in-law Jackie.
A simple wooden reception area, some landscaping, reed-woven shade structures, dirt roads, rustic restrooms… and the first guests arrived in the summer of 1966, but Lucien, Marie-Jeanne, Gérard, and Jackie continued, alongside this, to work as farmers (growing melons and tomatoes) and horticulturists (growing strelitzias) for several years.
1980
Soon, a permanent reception area and restrooms with hot water were built, followed by shops, restaurants, a bar, and other amenities, so that by 1980 the campsite was already fully equipped. Farming and horticulture were permanently abandoned in favor of hosting campers during the summer season and carrying out maintenance work during the winter.
More and more guests return every year, bringing their friends along, and making Camping La Presqu’ile de Giens a beloved destination where they gather for simple, unpretentious vacations—yet always marked by a strong sense of camaraderie and warmth, which Lucien cherishes deeply as he shares a glass of wine, a slice of melon, or a lily of the valley with them.
The first mobile homes arrived in 1982, offering a brand-new type of accommodation for guests looking to enjoy a comfortable camping vacation! In the mid-1980s, a playground was built for the children’s enjoyment, along with a volleyball court for sports enthusiasts. The first recreational activities were introduced and organized by the guests themselves: pétanque, soccer, volleyball, fitness classes… and they were a huge hit!
1990
The 1990s marked a period of growth in our entertainment offerings, with shows and activities for the whole family. The campsite became more professional, and our staff grew to 20 members. From receptionists to housekeeping, maintenance, and entertainment staff—everyone works hard to ensure you have a pleasant stay in Giens.
In the years that followed, efforts were focused on improving and modernizing the campsite’s facilities. This included renovating the restrooms, improving accessibility for people with disabilities, building a performance stage, and creating a new service area for RVs…
2020
In response to growing demand from guests, the campsite built a water park in 2020. It features a wading pool with play equipment for young children and a large heated pool with a relaxation area and water slides for the whole family.
In recent years, the campsite has continued to improve: a snack bar has opened next to the pool, mobile homes with spa have been installed, and the staff have put on their first show! Today, the campsite offers 371 spots (for tents, RVs, and mobile homes) spread over 7 hectares and employs 40 people during peak season.
For 60 years, it is thanks to you, our campers, that this adventure has continued. Your trust and loyalty inspire us every day to improve and offer you a unique vacation experience. Thank you for being with us, year after year.
By honoring the spirit of the founders—Lucien, Marie-Jeanne, Gérard, and Jackie—the new generations—Corinne, Christian, and Antonin from the 1990s to 2020, and Bérangère, supported by Clémence, today—carry on the Coulomb family’s tradition of hospitality on the Giens Peninsula.
A family affair, for your family holidays.
